Hamster Run
This is a 3D game prototype that tries uses
physics to create a realistic experience of sliding with a snowboard on
a canyon. The narrative(with the hamster in a snowboard) is very simple
and intended for a broad audience (kids, people that like cute silly games
(like me)). The hamster has to get cheese before the it runs out of time:
more cheese, more time. I'm still working on a version with the counter,
and with other levels (that would be other terrains, like ice, waves,
rock, grass, etc). The idea is to create an experience that is immersive,
and where the fun of the game is the speed and terrain exploration. The
idea for the game came from a version of Sonic that I used to play - I
don't remember the version, but the bonus level had this "U"
shaped canyon where Sonic would run up and down getting as many rings
as possible.
In this work I was really trying to explore a more flat - cartoon like
look for the 3D, because I didn't want it to look realistic at all. I've
been trying to explore how to use 3D with unusual textures, specially
line drawings and very flat, vector like shapes.
